Postal ballots record 80.11% turnout
A total of 1,528,131 approved voters registered through the "Postal Vote BD" app.
Postal voting in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) election and referendum recorded an 80.11% turnout, according to the Election Commission (EC).
Salim Ahmad Khan, team leader of the OCV-SDI project on expatriate voter registration, told BSS on Thursday evening (12 February) that a total of 1,528,131 approved voters registered through the "Postal Vote BD" app.
Of them, 1,224,188 cast their votes, accounting for 80.11% of the approved registrants.
He also said that returning officers received 1,165,592 postal ballots, representing 76.28% of the total votes cast. Among these, 1,073,497 ballots were accepted as valid, which is 70.25%.
Salim further added that postal ballots from 498,266 expatriate voters reached Bangladesh, of which returning officers accepted 498,205 ballots.
Meanwhile, returning officers also received votes from 667,388 voters residing inside the country under the In-Country Postal Voting (ICPV) system.
