No 'engineered' results will be accepted: Mirza Abbas
As of 12:25pm, he said, “So far, the election atmosphere is calm and good. However, the voter turnout is low. It should have been more.”
BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, nominated for Dhaka-8, said he would not accept any "engineered" election results.
After casting his vote at Mirza Abbas Women's Degree College around 12:25pm today (12 February), he described the polling as calm but noted low voter turnout.
Abbas said, "If there is engineering, it will not be accepted. I have always feared, and still do, the problems of vote rigging and engineering."
As of 12:25pm, he added, "So far, the election atmosphere is calm and good. However, the voter turnout is low. It should have been more."
When asked about his prospects, Abbas said he's confident and 100% optimistic.
His opponent from the same constituency, NCP Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, said many voters were hesitant due to the high number of seals in lily bud and urged candidates to remain in the race.
"Stay on the playing field, don't be afraid. Stay in the game for 90 minutes. We are going to play a Test matchstay in the game and don't get up," he said.
Dhaka-8, a politically significant constituency, saw polling begin at 7:30am and will continue until 4:30 pm.
