Jamaat wins all four seats in Satkhira
Jamaat swept all four seats with a 72.05% average voter turnout, defeating BNP and independent rivals by significant margins.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidates won all four parliamentary constituencies in Satkhira in the 13th national election, defeating rivals from BNP and independent candidates, according to final results announced by Returning Officer Afroza Akter after vote counting, including postal ballots.
Satkhira-1 (Tala–Kalaroa)
After a closely fought contest, Jamaat candidate Md Izzat Ullah, a college principal, won the seat. Combining votes from 168 polling centres and postal ballots, he secured 193,772 votes. His nearest rival, BNP central leader Habibul Islam Habib, received 169,995 votes, leaving Izzat Ullah ahead by 23,777 votes.
Referendum results showed 228,404 votes in favour ("Yes") and 121,256 against ("No"), with voter turnout at 75.64%.
Satkhira-2 (Sadar–Debhata)
Former MP and Jamaat leader Muhaddis Abdul Khaleque won by a large margin. From 180 centres, he polled 266,959 votes, while BNP candidate Md Abdur Rauf received 150,283 votes. According to the official announcement, Khaleque's winning margin was 150,666 votes.
Referendum ballots recorded 292,828 "Yes" votes and 86,619 "No" votes, while turnout reached 73.79%.
Satkhira-3 (Ashashuni–Kaliganj)
Jamaat's Muha Rabiul Basar claimed victory with 184,233 votes from 165 centres. Independent candidate Shahidul Alam, who contested with the Football symbol, finished second with 105,389 votes, as Basar won by 78,844 votes. BNP candidate Kazi Alauddin secured 56,819 votes.
Referendum results showed 232,925 "Yes" votes and 104,883 "No" votes, with turnout at 70.99%.
Satkhira-4 (Shyamnagar)
Jamaat leader Gazi Nazrul Islam was re-elected, garnering 106,913 votes from 96 centres. His nearest rival, BNP's Md Moniruzzaman, received 85,466 votes, leaving a margin of 21,447 votes.
The referendum count stood at 129,741 "Yes" votes and 60,779 "No" votes, while turnout was 67.76%.
The returning officer formally declared the final results in the early hours of the morning.
