Jamaat to issue official statement after reviewing election outcome

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is set to deliver an official statement after concluding a meeting of its central executive council to review and observe the national election and determine its next course of action.

Speaking at an emergency press conference today (13 February), the party's Assistant Secretary General Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair said the people of Bangladesh had participated in what he described as a "historic election".
He informed that following the election, Jamaat ameer convened a meeting of the party's central executive council to assess the overall situation.
"The purpose of this meeting is to review and observe the election and decide our next steps. We will conduct a detailed evaluation and provide direction across the country. All issues will be discussed here. It will take some time to conclude," he said.
Zubair added that after a meeting of the top leaders of the alliance parties, a formal statement would be issued on behalf of the alliance. "The statement may be delivered later today, if possible."
He also said the executive meeting is expected to conclude around 10pm.
