DSE to remain closed on 11-12 Feb for national election
The closure is aimed at facilitating the smooth conduct of the national election and ensuring public participation in the democratic process.
The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) will remain closed on 11 and 12 February, following the government's declaration of general holidays on the occasion of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum.
In a notification, the bourse said trading activities, along with all other official operations of the exchange, will be suspended on the two days in compliance with the decision of the Interim Government of Bangladesh. The closure is aimed at facilitating the smooth conduct of the national election and ensuring public participation in the democratic process.
The interim government earlier announced 11 and 12 February as general holidays nationwide to allow voters, election officials and law enforcement agencies to carry out their responsibilities during the parliamentary polls and referendum without disruption.
As a result, there will be no trading, clearing or settlement of securities on the DSE during the holiday period. Market participants, including investors, brokerage houses and listed companies, have been advised to plan their transactions accordingly.
Normal trading activities at the country's premier bourse are expected to resume after the holidays, subject to any further instructions from the authorities.
