Clear plans, not bashing rivals, key to improving people's lives: Tarique
“If anyone asks for your bKash number, NID number, or other personal information, you must understand there is a conspiracy behind it,” he says.
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman today (9 February) said meaningful change in the country can only be achieved through clear plans to improve people's lives, rather than by merely criticising political opponents.
Speaking at an election rally for the Dhaka-10 constituency at the Kalabagan Krira Chakra ground in the capital, he said, "We can talk at length about our political opponents and criticise individuals and issues. But does that alone help the country or the people? No, it does not."
"Real benefit comes only when a political party has clear plans and effective programmes to change the fate of the people," Tarique added.
The rally was presided over by BNP's Dhaka-10 candidate Rabiul Alam Robi, reports Prothom Alo.
Calling for unity and hard work, the BNP chief urged supporters to focus on rebuilding the country. "Let us work hard, stay united, and build the nation. Because 'Shobar Ageh Bangladesh' [Bangladesh Before All]," he said.
Describing the 12 February election as a long-awaited moment for the people, he said the polls were not just another voting day. "This is the election the people of Bangladesh have been waiting for the past 16 years."
Tarique also warned of conspiracies surrounding the election, alleging that individuals from one side had recently been caught attempting to manufacture fake ballot seals. He urged voters in Dhaka-10 and across the country to remain vigilant.
"If anyone asks for your bKash number, NID number, or other personal information, you must understand there is a conspiracy behind it," he said, adding that failure to resist such attempts could once again put the hard-earned voting rights of the people at risk.
Earlier in the day, Tarique addressed another election rally for the Dhaka-17 constituency near Banani Bazar, where he reiterated BNP's commitment to building a safe Bangladesh.
Tarique is scheduled to attend a total of eight election rallies today, including his own constituency and seven other constituencies under Dhaka Metropolitan South.
