Campaign workers step up voter assistance efforts across capital ahead of polls

As election day approaches, campaign workers and supporters have stepped up voter assistance efforts across the capital by setting up booths to distribute voter slips and going door to door to provide information on polling centres and booth numbers.
Visits to multiple constituencies in Dhaka showed that groups of campaign workers are stationed at booths near polling centres, while others are moving around neighbourhoods to share voter information and communicate directly with voters.
In Dhaka-8, a Jubo Dal activist at a booth set up in Ward No 18 of Ramna in support of BNP candidate Mirza Abbas said they have already delivered slips to many voters. "It is helping voters understand which centre they will cast their ballots at. We aim to complete distribution within the next two to three days," he added.
In Dhaka-10, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Jasim Uddin Sarkar has set up a voter assistance booth in the Bata Signal area.
On-duty worker Abdullah told The Business Standard that they have been working with voter slips for the past three days. "We are not only sitting at the booth; we are also delivering slips door to door. Voters are benefiting from this, and it also supports our campaign," he said.
He further noted that they have a dedicated app for voter assistance, through which voter-related information is being provided.
Similar activities were observed by BNP supporters in the same constituency. Sajid, a worker at a BNP booth, said they are also distributing slips door to door. "We want to ensure voters are not confused when they go to polling centres," he said.
However, in the same constituency, at a booth in Ward No 18 of Ramna for Nasiruddin Patwary, the 11-party alliance-backed candidate and chief coordinator of the NCP, on-duty worker Towhidul said they have not yet fully started distributing voter slips.
"So far, we have set up only two booths and have not begun full-scale distribution. For now, we are prioritising public outreach. However, distribution has started from today," he said.
Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Hazaribagh, said, "Earlier, I did not know which centre I would vote at. Now the slip has been delivered to my home, so I have no worries."
Nayan, a young voter from the New Market area, said, "I recently transferred my voter registration to this constituency. Receiving the slip helped me understand the polling centre and all related information. It has saved me time."
