BNP's Hummam Quader wins Chattogram-7
His nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate ATM Rezaul Karim, received 41,719 votes
BNP candidate Hummam Quader Chowdhury has won the Chattogram-7 (Rangunia) constituency, securing 1,14,045 votes, according to unofficial results.
His nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate ATM Rezaul Karim, received 41,719 votes.
A total of 3,19,009 voters, including postal ballots, were registered across 93 polling centres in the constituency. Of them, 1,79,586 voters cast their votes. However, 3,737 ballots were declared invalid. The voter turnout stood at 56.29%.
Hummam Quader Chowdhury, son of late BNP leader Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury, was forcibly disappeared in August 2016 and detained at the Joint Interrogation Centre, known as Aynaghar, during the Awami League regime. He returned home after seven months of detention.
