BNP’s family card plan is just like Hasina’s rice at Tk10 idea: Jamaat’s Porwar
The Jamaat leader has criticised the BNP, saying the country cannot be run by a “failed party”.
Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar has said that people across Bangladesh are seeking political change and no longer want to see the parties that have ruled the country since independence.
"We will make the state corruption-free. After the completion of any development project, our MPs will present a full account of the allocated funds," he said while addressing an election rally in Narayanganj's Siddhirganj today (4 February).
Porwar criticised the BNP, saying the country cannot be run by a "failed party". "The BNP talks about family cards and farmer cards. The population is 18 crore, and they apparently plan to give 50 crore. It's just like Sheikh Hasina's rice at Tk10 idea."
Referring to a statement by BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman in which he said Jamaat was once in power with them and wondered why it did not resign, Porwar said Jamaat did not step down in order to prove that it was possible to stay in power without getting involved in corruption.
"They say that bearded, prayer cap-wearing people supposedly have no experience in running a country. We have proven that such people are capable of governing a country with competence. To prove that, we did not resign," he said.
The Jamaat leader alleged, "There are people who want to remove women's hijab and niqab even before coming to power. If they come to power, they will strip the women of the country naked."
Porwar also alleged that, fearing Jamaat's rising popularity, BNP has launched cyberattacks and is spreading propaganda
He claimed his X account, formerly Twitter, was hacked as part of that coordinated attack.
The rally, chaired by Jamaat's Narayanganj Metropolitan unit Ameer Maulana Abdul Jabbar, was attended by candidates of the 11-party alliance in different Narayanganj constituencies, including Jamaat, NCP, and Khelafat Majlis.
