At Banani rally, Tarique pledges healthcare transformation, with specific focus on women, children
In a move to support aspiring migrant workers, Tarique announced that a BNP-led government would provide microloans to facilitate overseas employment.
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman today (9 February) urged the people to join hands in rebuilding the nation, stating that no one from outside will come to perform the task.
Addressing a roadside rally at the Kamal Ataturk Avenue playground in his electoral constituency, Dhaka-17, Tarique kicked off a day of campaigning featuring eight rallies across the capital ahead of the 12 February national election.
The BNP chief pledged a comprehensive healthcare transformation, promising to recruit one lakh healthcare professionals with a specific focus on women and children.
This initiative, he said, aims to ensure door-to-door healthcare services by appointing dedicated professionals to serve local communities directly.
Tarique emphasised that early detection and treatment remain central to his party's healthcare vision.
In a move to support aspiring migrant workers, Tarique announced that a BNP-led government would provide microloans to facilitate overseas employment.
He noted that this would prevent citizens from having to sell their ancestral land to fund migration.
Tarique also promised an honorarium for imams and muezzins, alongside the introduction of "family cards" to financially empower women and "farmer cards" to provide easy access to agricultural loans and revitalise the sector.
Addressing the youth, he criticised the lack of promised job opportunities and the failure to train young people as skilled workers.
He vowed to establish an IT sector hub to generate modern employment opportunities.
The BNP leader further touched upon the capital's pressing urban crises, promising to tackle Dhaka's traffic congestion and deteriorating air pollution.
Tarique reminded the crowd of the BNP's extensive experience in statecraft and pointed to the party's unwavering commitment to the people.
He said, "BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia never abandoned her countrymen, even under duress."
"The time has come to exercise your rights," he said, calling for votes for the "sheaf of paddy" to initiate the task of national reconstruction.
The Banani rally was the first of eight scheduled for today, marking the second consecutive day of Tarique's intensive campaign through Dhaka's various constituencies.
