11-party alliance will form next govt, says Oli Ahmed after voting

Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Chairman Col (retd) Oli Ahmed has expressed hope that the Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance will form the next government.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after casting his vote at the Chandanaish Sadar Government Primary School centre in Chattogram this morning (12 February).
Col Oli was elected Member of Parliament consecutively from the Chattogram-14 constituency (Chandanaish and parts of Satkania).
On the voting environment, he said no allegations of polling centre capture had been received so far. "For the past three days, the overall situation in the constituencies has remained largely peaceful," he added.
However, he alleged that money had been distributed in several villages on behalf of BNP-nominated candidate Jasim Uddin Ahmed. He claimed that many of those involved had been arrested by the army and police.
Col Oli also stressed the importance of ensuring a fair election to establish good governance in the country. "Insha'Allah, the 11-party alliance will form the government tomorrow," he said.

Expressing optimism about the results in Chandanaish and Satkania, the Oli said Omar Faruk, the 11-party alliance-backed LDP candidate, would win by a large margin.
"The general people will not betray Omar Faruk. They may take money from the other side, but when it comes to casting their votes, they will make the right decision," he added.
Omar Faruk, son of Col Oli, is contesting the Chattogram-13 constituency with the umbrella symbol. His rivals include BNP candidate Jasim Uddin Ahmed, the party's rebel candidate Mizanul Haque Chowdhury, and independent candidate Shafiqul Islam Rahi.
