Trump brands critics 'TRAITORS ALL' over Iran policy
In a series of social media posts, Trump said: "The Democrats are doing everything possible to hurt the very strong position we are in with respect to Iran".
US President Donald Trump has aggressively defended his military strategy regarding Iran, describing Democratic critics and war skeptics as "TRAITORS, ALL", as tensions over the conflict and stalled diplomacy continue to escalate.
In a series of social media posts, Trump said: "The Democrats are doing everything possible to hurt the very strong position we are in with respect to Iran". He also accused political opponents of undermining US negotiating leverage and said: "As a negotiator, and I am a great negotiator, how bad is it when you have people from your own country trying to reach a deal? They are helping the other side".
Trump added: "We're in it, and it will be done RIGHT, and we won't let the Weak and Pathetic Democrats, TRAITORS ALL... belittle the accomplishments of our Military and the Trump Administration".
The president said the US Navy recently seized an Iranian-flagged cargo ship near the Strait of Hormuz, stating that the vessel was stopped after the Navy "stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engine room". He said the operation followed a US blockade of Iranian ports initiated last week.
Describing the military campaign, Trump said: "This is being perfectly executed, on the scale of Venezuela, just a bigger, more complex operation. The result will be the same". He also said the military action had moved faster than critics expected, and that: "...they like to say that I promised 6 weeks to defeat Iran, and actually, from the Military standpoint, it was far faster than that...".
On his broader military policy, Trump said: "In my First Term, I built the Greatest Military our Country has ever seen... In my Second Term, I am properly and judiciously using our Military to solve problems left to us by others of far less understanding or competence". He also issued a slogan, saying: "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!".
Regarding diplomacy, Trump said he is "highly unlikely" to renew a ceasefire expiring later this week and added he would not be rushed into a deal "that is not as good as it could have been". He also said: "Time is not my adversary" and insisted that any agreement must be "done RIGHT".
He further rejected concerns over political pressure, saying: "I read the Fake News saying that I am under 'pressure' to make a Deal. THIS IS NOT TRUE! I am under no pressure whatsoever, although, it will all happen, relatively quickly!".
US officials, including Vice President JD Vance, Jared Kushner, and envoy Steve Witkoff, had been prepared for a second round of talks in Islamabad, but Iran has not committed to participation.
Trump said the ceasefire negotiations remain uncertain and reiterated confidence in his approach, saying he will only proceed under terms he considers acceptable.
The escalating standoff has contributed to global energy market volatility and concerns over oil supply disruptions. Reports indicate at least 3,375 deaths in Iran amid the conflict.
While Iran has not signaled plans for renewed talks, other regional actors, including Israel and Lebanon, are expected to continue separate diplomatic discussions in Washington, DC.
