US military says attacks on Iran 'completed'
In a statement, CENTCOM said the strikes were launched in response to what it described as Iran's "unwarranted and continued aggression"
The United States military has completed a series of self-defence strikes against targets in Iran, targeting military surveillance capabilities, communication systems and air defence sites, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.
The operation was conducted under the direction of President Donald Trump and carried out by CENTCOM using precision munitions against multiple targets across the country, reports Al Jazeera.
In a statement, CENTCOM said the strikes were launched in response to what it described as Iran's "unwarranted and continued aggression".
According to the US military, the targets included assets that posed a direct threat to US forces and international commercial ships operating in regional waters.
The strikes have now concluded, CENTCOM said.
"US forces remain vigilant, lethal and ready," the command added.
