Turkey's President Tayyip Erdogan thanked Trump for encouraging Israel to accept a ceasefire and said Ankara would monitor its implementation.

"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to US President Trump, who demonstrated the necessary political will to encourage the Israeli government toward the ceasefire," Erdogan wrote on X on Thursday.
Turkey has been involved in negotiations in Egypt, and Trump had asked Turkey to convince Hamas to accept the proposal, Erdogan said on Wednesday.
Erdogan also said on Wednesday that in any post-war scenario, Gaza must remain part of a Palestinian state and that it must be governed by Palestinians.
