Araghchi denies Iran launched missiles towards Turkey, promises investigation
Yesterday’s (9 March) incident marked the second time a ballistic missile has been fired towards Turkey since the United States and Israel launched a war against Iran on 28 February.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has assured his Turkish counterpart that the missiles fired towards Turkey were not launched from Iran and said a thorough investigation would be carried out, sources told Al Jazeera.
Araghchi made the remarks during a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan today (10 March), according to the sources.
During the conversation, Fidan stressed that the violation of Turkish airspace was unacceptable and warned that Turkey would take the necessary measures to address such incidents.
The call came a day after the Turkish Ministry of National Defence said NATO air defences had intercepted a ballistic missile.
