New BJP chief minister of West Bengal to take oath on 9 May
A meeting of the BJP legislature party will be held in Kolkata tomorrow to elect its leader who will then be chief minister.
The new BJP chief minister of West Bengal will take oath at the historic Brigade Parade Ground in central Kolkata on 9 May, the party's state President Samik Bhattacharya said today (6 May).
He told reporters in Kolkata that the swearing-in ceremony will start at 10am.
BJP secured a landslide victory in the recent West Bengal assembly elections, ending the 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress and capturing power for the first time in the state.
Leading the pack of front-runners for the post of chief minister are Suvendu Adhikari, who defeated Mamata Banerjee from her bastion Bhabanipur constituency in Kolkata, followed by Agnimitra Paul and Shamik Bhattacharya.
