Nearly 400 Kailash pilgrims out of contact after Nepal flash flood
The pilgrims were due to cross into Tibet today when the flash flood disrupted movement along the key border route.
Nearly 400 pilgrims travelling to Tibet's Kailash Mansarovar remained out of contact today (26 August) after an early morning flash flood swept through Nepal's Rasuwa district, damaging roads and other critical infrastructure along the Nepal-China border, reports The Kathmandu Post.
Bashu Kumar Adhikari, managing director of Kathmandu-based Touch Kailash Travels & Tours, said 390 pilgrims, including 93 Nepalis, were scheduled to cross the border today.
"Except for a few, we have not been able to establish contact with the pilgrims as of 3pm," Adhikari said.

The pilgrims were travelling through various agencies, according to the report.
Sagar Pandey, president of the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal, said efforts were underway to contact the pilgrims and assess their condition.
The flash flood struck Rasuwa early today, affecting settlements and infrastructure around Rasuwagadhi and disrupting movement along the key border route to Tibet.
