India’s opposition to march to Supreme Court tomorrow
Rahul Gandhi says opposition parties, civil society groups and young people will submit a memorandum to the Chief Justice of India, demanding action against alleged electoral malpractice.
India's opposition parties, civil society groups and young people will march to the Supreme Court tomorrow (12 October) to protest alleged electoral malpractice, demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and call for a halt to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi announced the programme in a post on X today (11 October), saying participants would submit a memorandum to the Chief Justice of India.
The march would bring together Indians across political parties, gender, caste, community and state boundaries, Rahul said.

Referring to protests in Delhi yesterday, he alleged that young people who had gathered peacefully were beaten by police and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters.
"They came with love in their hearts, not hatred or anger. They were beaten, both by cops and BJP goons. This is not the India we want," he said.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha said youth, opposition parties, civil society groups and others who believed in democracy and supported the Indian Constitution would join Monday's march.
Rahul also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat of attempting to silence dissent.
"Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Ajit Doval and Mohan Bhagwat cannot silence India's voice. These cowards cannot intimidate us. They will have to step aside," he said.
On 9 October, leaders of the opposition INDIA bloc marched from Parliament to Vijay Chowk in New Delhi and later submitted a memorandum to President Droupadi Murmu.
