Myanmar declines to graduate from LDCs
They recommended deferring the decision to the 2024 triennial review, due to concerns on negative impacts of the state of emergency declared by the military on Myanmar’s development trajectory and graduation preparation.
Even though Myanmar met the criteria for the second consecutive time to graduate from LDCs (Least Developed Countries), it will not graduate any time soon.
In a report by the United Nations Committee for Development Policy (CDP), they recommended deferring the decision to the 2024 triennial review, due to concerns on negative impacts of the state of emergency declared by the military on Myanmar's development trajectory and graduation preparation.
The CPD revealed the information in its plenary meeting, including the triennial review on the LDC category, held from 22 to 26 February.

The committee also recommended not to graduate Timor-Leste and deferred the decision to the 2024 review. In the report, they stated the reason to be the continued concerns about the sustainability of the country's development progress.
The results of the meeting will be communicated formally to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
