Indian opposition slams Khamenei killing, Modi govt silent
The government of India, which has had warm relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, has not issued any formal statement on Khamenei’s killing yet
The Indian National Congress, the country's main opposition party, has condemned the joint US-Israel strikes that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei yesterday.
In a strongly worded statement, Congress said that it "unequivocally condemns the targeted assassination" of the Iranian leader, "in a military strike carried out without a formal declaration of war."
Interestingly, the government of India, which has had warm relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, has not issued any formal statement on Khamenei's killing yet.
The Narendra Modi government had expressed concerns over the escalation of tensions in the Middle East, with the United States, Israel and Iran all firing missiles.
