India and the United States will make another attempt to advance a bilateral trade deal when Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal holds talks with his US counterpart Jamieson Greer in Washington over the coming week.
Goyal will meet Greer as part of ongoing efforts to advance a "balanced and mutually beneficial India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA)" and finalise an interim deal, according to an official statement issued today.

New Delhi and Washington have yet to reach a consensus on the trade agreement after months of negotiations, with India holding out for better terms.
Earlier this month, India said it had told Washington that new measures to impose tariffs on its purchase of Russian oil could affect bilateral ties.
