Why is Bangladesh unable to become a member of ASEAN?
Bangladesh has suffered a major setback in its long-held hopes of becoming a member of ASEAN, the trade and political alliance of Southeast Asian countries. The clear message from the alliance's highest policy-making source is that the chances of Bangladesh or Papua New Guinea being included in the alliance are now virtually zero due to the inability to meet the geographical conditions.
