Turkish opposition party announces Imamoglu as presidential candidate

Ekrem Imamoglu could be a rival to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Because Imamoglu has been nominated as the presidential candidate by the country's opposition Republican People's Party (CHP). Elections are scheduled to be held in Turkey in 2028. Imamoglu, the former mayor of the capital Istanbul, was recently arrested and sent to prison.
