EU delays retaliatory tariffs against US amid hopes for trade deal

US President Donald Trump has announced a 30 percent tariff on the European Union and Mexico. Then the European Union-EU, in a heated exchange of words, threatened to take countermeasures. Now they have temporarily suspended the decision to impose retaliatory tariffs on US exports. EU officials hope that they will be able to reach a trade deal with Donald Trump before the August 1 deadline.
