Jamaat demands elections in February or April
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has demanded elections by February or April next year, said the party's Ameer Shafiqur Rahman. He made this known at a press conference held at a hotel in the capital on May 3 to mark the restoration of Jamaat's registration. Shafiqur Rahman said, "We have demanded elections by mid-February or by April. Before Ramadan or if it is not possible for any reason, then the elections should be held by April. Due to the weather, it is not possible to hold elections after May. We must make arrangements for expatriates to vote, we are not willing to make concessions on this matter."
