There's no way to tell just by looking that this is Maheshkhali, the only hilly island in Bangladesh, located in Cox's Bazar. Though the island is famous for its hills, the environment here was very different even twenty years ago. But over the years, due to hill-cutting and deforestation, this island rich in biodiversity is now facing an existential crisis.
