WFP needs $450 million to sustain critical Gaza food aid operations
The World Food Programme (WFP) is drastically cutting food assistance in Gaza as a severe funding crisis threatens millions of Palestinians facing hunger and food insecurity. The agency urgently needs $450 million to maintain critical humanitarian operations over the next six months. The cuts will reduce food assistance from 1.6 million to 1.1 million people, while daily hot meals provided through community kitchens will fall from 250,000 to 150,000. With widespread displacement, unemployment exceeding 80%, and millions relying on food aid, the humanitarian situation remains critical.WFP will continue supporting bakeries, women and children, and school nutrition programmes despite the financial shortfall. Meanwhile, food assistance has also been reduced in the occupied West Bank.
