US-Iran talks stall as Tehran closes Strait of Hormuz again
High-level talks between Iran and the US have stalled following their historic first meeting in Islamabad. Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister stated that a new date remains undetermined, citing 'extreme behaviour' as a major obstacle to progress. Despite this, US President Donald Trump suggests a second meeting could still happen this week, highlighting conflicting narratives between the two nations.
Meanwhile, tensions are escalating at sea. Just days after temporarily reopening the Strait of Hormuz, Tehran abruptly shut the vital waterway again on 18 April. Accusing the US of obstructing Iranian vessels and violating ceasefire conditions, Iran issued a stark warning: if American interference continues, they will face 'severe consequences'.
