The Awami League is not solely responsible for the clashes in Gopalganj — the NCP also bears some responsibility. The Awami League has been struggling to accept the political reality after August 5, while on the other hand, the NCP's attempt to forcibly hold a program in the Awami League's stronghold, along with slogans like "Mujibbad Murdabad", made the Gopalganj clashes almost inevitable.
