YouTube increases premium and music subscription fees
US Streaming giant YouTube is raising their subscription prices for both Youtube Premium and Youtube Music in the United States.
The Individual plan climbs to $15.99 from $13.99, while the family plan rises to $26.99 from $22.99. Even the limited Premium Lite option will now cost $8.99 per month. Previously it cost $7.99.
For YouTube Music, the individual plan is increasing from $10.99 per month to $11.99 per month, while the family plan will go up from $16.99 per month to $18.99 per month.
The new prices will apply for both new and existing users, Current subscribers will receive an email from YouTube at least 30 days in advance notifying them of their updated subscription price.
This is not the first price increase. YouTube previously raised the cost of its Premium subscription in July 2023, when the monthly price went from $11.99 to $13.99, while YouTube Music increased from $9.99 to $10.99 per month.
The latest price hikes reflect a broader industry trend. Netflix and Amazon Prime Video increased their subscription costs last month, while Spotify implemented similar changes earlier this year. Comparable increases were also introduced last year by HBO Max, Peacock, and Disney+/Hulu. .
