Fishing

Fishing

Sixty-year-old Ganguli Prasad, one of the 30-35 remaining magnet fishers along the Buriganga River in Old Dhaka, uses powerful magnets to retrieve scrap metals like iron, brass, copper, and even silver and gold from the riverbed. However, many in the trade are shifting to boat rowing and diving as the profession faces declining opportunities.
The photo was taken recently by Asma Sultana Prova.
