Virat Kohli reached a major milestone on Sunday, notching up his 100th half-century in T20 cricket during the IPL 2025 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Kohli's achievement came in style as he guided RCB's chase of 174 runs, adding another memorable knock to his illustrious career.
In addition to this half-century, Kohli now holds the record for the most 50+ scores in IPL history, with 66 such innings to his name, a feat he shares with Australia's David Warner. Behind them is Shikhar Dhawan, with 53 50+ scores. Mumbai Indians' Rohit Sharma, the next active player on the list, has 45 scores of 50+ in IPL matches.
Kohli's milestone innings was a display of his class and timing. The RCB talisman brought up his half-century in spectacular fashion, dancing down the track to smash Wanindu Hasaranga's delivery over the Sri Lankan's head for a six. Kohli remained unbeaten on 62 from 45 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes, guiding RCB to an easy win.
Alongside him, Phil Salt played an equally vital role, scoring 55 runs off 33 balls. Together, they led RCB to chase down the 174-run target with 15 balls to spare, losing just one wicket in the process.
Thanks to his remarkable knock, Kohli has now scored 240 runs in six innings during IPL 2025, with an average of 60 and a strike rate of 142.01. This performance has earned him the 5th spot in the Orange Cap race.
RCB's victory, their fourth away from home, sees them climb to 3rd place in the IPL 2025 points table, tied with Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, and Lucknow Super Giants, each with eight points. This win comes ahead of Delhi's crucial clash with Mumbai.
