Three Bangladesh emerging team cricketers injured in road accident

Three Bangladesh Emerging cricket team players - wicketkeeper Jakir Hasan and pacers Mehedi Hasan Rana and Manik Khan - have been injured in a road accident on Wednesday.

The accident occurred as the players were on their way back from BKSP, after defeating the Sri Lanka Emerging cricket team by two wickets to level the series, near Jahangirnagar University in Savar.

However, all three players have escaped with minor injuries and nothing too serious has happened, according to sources.

All three players took primary medical treatment at a local hospital in Savar and came back to the academy building in Mirpur.

The three were taken into the squad as stand-by options and as a result had to travel on a different bus - a coaster bus - to that of the main team players.

The coaster bus had a head-on collision with another bus carrying passengers.

As a result, Zakir, who has represented the national team in a T20I received a head injury while Mehedi injured his chest and Manik, his leg.

After losing the first match by a big margin, the emerging team won the second one to level the series 1-1 and the third game - the series decider will be played on 24 August in Khulna.
