After an impressive showing in the Afghanistan series, Najmul Hossain Shanto has jumped to his highest-ever position in the ICC ODI batting rankings.

The Bangladesh captain displayed consistent form in the first two ODIs, pushing him up 11 places to 23rd in the latest rankings — the best of his career.

Shanto, who missed the final match on 11 November due to injury, scored 47 and 76 in the two games he played, with his solid form helping Bangladesh remain competitive despite ultimately losing the series. His rating now stands at 604 points, placing him alongside Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan in joint 23rd. Among Bangladeshi batsmen, Shanto currently holds the top spot.

Mahmudullah Riyad also saw a notable boost in the rankings. His 98-run knock in the final ODI against Afghanistan lifted him 10 places to 44th position. Meanwhile, Mushfiqur Rahim, sidelined with a finger injury after the series opener, slipped seven places to joint 44th with Mahmudullah.

On the bowling side, Mehidy Hasan Miraz saw significant gains. With three wickets in the series and consistent batting scores of 28, 22, and 66 across the three matches, Miraz moved up nine spots to 23rd in the bowling rankings. His all-round performance saw him climb four places to fourth in the all-rounder rankings. Mustafizur Rahman, who claimed eight wickets in the series, rose in the bowling standings to 36th, while Taskin Ahmed follows just three spots behind. However, left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam dropped 10 places to 34th.

Babar Azam maintains his position at the top of the batting rankings, with Shaheen Shah Afridi leading the bowlers. Mohammad Nabi also strengthened his hold on the top all-rounder spot. The ICC published its weekly rankings update on 13 November, marking significant progress for Bangladesh players in various categories.
