Salah defends Alexander-Arnold after Anfield boos: 'he deserves better'
The England international is widely expected to join Real Madrid once his contract expires in June.

Mohamed Salah has criticised sections of the Liverpool fanbase for jeering Trent Alexander-Arnold during last weekend's 2-2 draw against Arsenal at Anfield, describing the reaction as "harsh" and undeserved.
Alexander-Arnold, who recently confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, was booed by some supporters when he came on as a second-half substitute. The England international is widely expected to join Real Madrid once his contract expires in June.
Speaking to Gary Neville in an interview for Sky Sports, Salah expressed his disappointment with how the situation unfolded. "Absolutely, I was surprised because this is not how we act as Liverpool fans," the Egyptian forward said. "I think somehow the fans were being harsh with him. He didn't deserve it at the time—he deserved the fans to treat him in the best way possible because he gave it all to them."
Salah, who himself endured an extended contract saga earlier in the season before committing to a new two-year deal, urged Liverpool fans to show Alexander-Arnold the respect he deserves in his final two appearances—against Brighton on 20 May and Crystal Palace on 25 May.
"Imagine someone who gives you his all for 20 years. It shouldn't be like this," Salah said. "I hope that will change in the next game, against Brighton, or in the final match of the season. He deserves the farewell."
A Liverpool academy graduate, Alexander-Arnold made his senior debut in 2016 and has since gone on to make 353 appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals. Now 26, he has won every major trophy with Liverpool, including two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.
Salah, who shares a close friendship with the right-back, admitted it will be emotional to part ways. "I told him yesterday—don't give me eye contact in your farewell. I really love him," Salah said. "I think he deserves the best farewell leaving the club. He has done a lot for the city and the club, and he's probably one of the best players in Liverpool's history. He gave it all."
Salah also acknowledged that the decision to leave was a personal one. "He needed a new challenge. He spoke to me about it. It's his decision for sure. He's 25, 26 years old and has won it all—twice or three times. What more could he have done?"
