New Zealand cruise to nine-wicket win as Pakistan collapse in Christchurch
The tourists made a dreadful start to the five-match series, collapsing to 11-4 inside five overs as Kyle Jamieson wreaked havoc with the new ball. Pakistan were eventually bowled out for their lowest T20 total on New Zealand soil.

Pakistan endured a humiliating nine-wicket defeat in the first T20 against New Zealand in Christchurch on 17 March after failing to defend a paltry total of 91.
The tourists made a dreadful start to the five-match series, collapsing to 11-4 inside five overs as Kyle Jamieson wreaked havoc with the new ball. Pakistan were eventually bowled out for their lowest T20 total on New Zealand soil, and the hosts made light work of the chase, reaching 92-1 in just 10.1 overs.
Jamieson was the chief destroyer, taking three of the first four wickets to finish with 3-8 from four overs. Jacob Duffy later cleaned up the tail, recording career-best T20 figures of 4-14 from 3.4 overs.
Only three Pakistan batters reached double figures, with newly appointed captain Salman Agha making 18 and adding 46 for the fifth wicket with top scorer Khushdil Shah, who struck three sixes in his 32 off 30 balls. Jahandad Khan contributed 17 before the innings ended with eight balls remaining.
Pakistan's previous lowest T20 total in New Zealand was 101 all out in a 95-run defeat in Wellington in 2016.
New Zealand's chase was set up by opener Tim Seifert, who smashed 44 off 29 balls with seven fours and a six. Finn Allen (29) and Tim Robinson (18) saw the hosts home off the first ball of the 11th over.
The second T20 takes place in Dunedin on 19 March.
