Kylian Mbappé delivered a stunning hat-trick to fire Real Madrid past Manchester City and into the Champions League last 16, sealing a 3-1 second-leg victory at the Santiago Bernabéu and a 6-3 win on aggregate.
Nico González struck a late consolation for City, but the night belonged to Mbappé, whose blistering display exposed the visitors' frailties. City's misery was compounded by John Stones limping off early, while Erling Haaland remained an unused substitute after his injury against Newcastle United.

Mbappé wasted no time making his mark, opening the scoring after just three minutes and 35 seconds. Raúl Asencio's long pass set him free, and the Frenchman shrugged off defenders before coolly lobbing Ederson. It was the earliest City had conceded in the competition since October 2018, when Hoffenheim scored after just 43 seconds.
City's night worsened moments later as Stones was forced off, replaced by Nathan Aké.
Madrid doubled their lead in the 33rd minute with a slick move inside City's half. Rodrygo's incisive pass found Mbappé, who cut inside and slotted past Ederson with characteristic ease.
City managed just one shot in the first half—their lowest in an opening period of a Champions League match since their goalless first half against Monaco in March 2017.
Mbappé nearly completed his hat-trick early in the second half, only for Ederson to block Federico Valverde's low cross. The third goal, however, was inevitable. On the hour mark, Mbappé cut inside Phil Foden and curled a left-footed strike from outside the box into the far corner.
With the tie effectively settled, the game drifted to its conclusion, though González tapped in from close range in stoppage time after Omar Marmoush's free-kick struck the crossbar.
It was little more than a footnote as City's European campaign ended in disappointment, while Madrid, powered by Mbappé's brilliance, march confidently into the next round.
