Mabia sets career-best lift at national women’s weightlifting
Competing in the 69kg category at the Captain M. Mansur Ali Handball Stadium, Mabia lifted 92kg in the snatch and 118kg in the clean and jerk, for a combined total of 210kg.

Ask Mabia Akter Simanta who her toughest rival is in national women's weightlifting, and she might just name herself. That would not be an exaggeration. Since 2013, she has been the undisputed national champion, and at the 18th National Senior Women's Weightlifting Championship she once again raised the bar, producing the best lift of her career.
Competing in the 69kg category at the Captain M. Mansur Ali Handball Stadium, Mabia lifted 92kg in the snatch and 118kg in the clean and jerk, for a combined total of 210kg. This surpassed her previous best of 204kg. Earlier this year she had competed in the 71kg category at the Asian Championship.
Mabia first drew national attention at the 2016 South Asian Games in Guwahati, when her emotional reaction after winning gold went viral. She retained her supremacy at the 2019 Games in Pokhara, once again clinching the top spot. The 14th edition of the South Asian Games will be held in Pakistan next year, where Mabia will look to add another chapter to her success story.
