Lampard returns to the Bridge

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has been appointed as the new manager of Chelsea. The 41-year old has signed a three-year contract which will expire in June 2022. He will replace Maurizio Sarri, who left Chelsea to join Juventus. 
Lampard managed Derby County in the Championship last season, who missed out on promotion following a defeat to Aston Villa in the play-offs final. 
After signing the contract the former English midfielder said, “I am immensely proud to be returning to Chelsea as head coach. Everyone knows my love for this club and the history we have shared, however, my sole focus is on the job in hand and preparing for the season ahead. I am here to work hard, bring further success to the club and I cannot wait to get started.”
Chelsea had to pay a compensation of four million pounds to Derby County to sign their new manager, and they have promised him a four million pounds bonus if Chelsea finish in the top four. 
Lampard spent 13 seasons playing for Chelsea after joining from West Ham. He has played an incredible 648 games for Chelsea, scoring club record 211 goals. He was the captain of Chelsea in the 2012 Champions League final as they triumphed to their first Champions League Trophy.
