'Grateful for the past, positive about the future': Klopp reacts to Liverpool's title win

Jurgen Klopp has congratulated Liverpool on winning the Premier League title, hailing the club's present and predicting a bright future under new manager Arne Slot.
The Liverpool squad that clinched a record-equalling 20th league title on 27 april, in Slot's debut season, was largely assembled by Klopp before his departure last year. After his final match at Anfield in may 2024, Klopp famously sang Slot's name, a gesture the Dutchman returned after Sunday's celebrations.
Taking to Instagram on monday, Klopp wrote: "Super grateful for the past, super, super happy about the present, extremely positive about the future!" He shared the message alongside a photo of Liverpool's title celebrations at Anfield, signing off with "Thank you Luv" — a nod to the phrase he had printed on his farewell hoodie, symbolising his connection to the city.
Slot expressed his own gratitude to Klopp after Liverpool's 5-1 win over Tottenham, praising the quality and culture he inherited. In an on-pitch interview after the final whistle, Slot thanked his predecessor and even broke into song.
Speaking later in his press conference, Slot said: "I think that is something not one manager ever did before. So that definitely helped me. But apart from that, he helped me even more by the team he left behind and the culture he left behind in that team.
"The quality the players have was, I think, obvious for everyone. But the culture of hard work, the culture not only from the players, but also from the staff members, has been incredible."
Klopp, who guided Liverpool to a Champions League triumph and a long-awaited Premier League title during his spell at Anfield, now serves as Red Bull's global head of soccer, having taken up the role in january 2025.
Mohamed Salah, one of Klopp's key signings, was among the standout performers on sunday, scoring and celebrating with the fans at Anfield, underlining the spirit Klopp helped build during his nine years at the club.
