FIFA President aims to visit Bangladesh within two months
Infantino also praised Dr Yunus’s initiatives towards making sports carbon-neutral and reaffirmed FIFA’s commitment to advancing football in South Asia.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has expressed his desire to visit Bangladesh in the next two months, emphasising plans to support the development of women's football in the country.
He shared his intentions during a meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on 22 January, held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum's annual gathering in Davos, Switzerland.
Infantino praised Dr Yunus's initiatives towards making sports carbon-neutral and reaffirmed FIFA's commitment to advancing football in South Asia. During the discussion, he said, "I want to visit Bangladesh within the next two months."

Dr Yunus highlighted the need for better infrastructure for women footballers, including dormitories and other facilities. In response, Infantino assured him that FIFA is prepared to provide funding for women's football in Bangladesh.
Additionally, Infantino noted FIFA's ongoing support for women's football in Saudi Arabia, mentioning that such efforts could benefit Bangladeshi expatriates living there.
The FIFA President expressed regret for not being able to attend the ongoing youth festival in Bangladesh, despite receiving an invitation.
The meeting was attended by Lamia Morshed, SDG Coordinator for the interim government of Bangladesh, and Tarek Ariful Islam, Bangladesh's Ambassador to Geneva.
