Elon Musk linked with rumoured Liverpool takeover as FSG denies sale claims

Elon Musk is reportedly interested in purchasing the English Premier League club Liverpool, according to recent comments made by his father, Errol Musk, in an interview. However, the club's current owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), have firmly denied any intentions to sell.

FSG, who acquired Liverpool in 2010 for £300 million, have overseen a period of remarkable success, including the club's first Premier League title in 2020, which broke a 30-year drought. Currently, Liverpool is valued at an estimated £4.3 billion.

When asked about Elon Musk's potential acquisition, Errol Musk remarked, "I can't comment on that. They'll raise the price. Oh yes, but that doesn't mean he's buying it. Elon would like to, yes, obviously, anybody would want to. So would I."

While the comments sparked speculation, they stopped short of confirming any negotiations. With the season halfway through, Liverpool currently sit atop the Premier League standings, delivering impressive performances.

Despite the rumours, FSG maintains they are committed to retaining ownership of the club, which has grown into a global powerhouse under their stewardship. The reports have left fans wondering whether Elon Musk will eventually seek to make a concrete bid for the Anfield giants.
