Cricketers stand firm on decision not to take the field
At a press conference held in Banani, the players placed five demands before the board.
Cricketers have reiterated their decision not to take the field unless Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director M Nazmul Islam resigns, saying they see no alternative if their demand is not met.
At a press conference held in Banani, the players placed five demands before the board. They said they are ready to resume play only if Nazmul Islam steps down from his position.
The demands raised at the briefing included the ongoing crisis in Dhaka First Division Cricket, the BCB's response to allegations of sexual harassment involving women cricketers, the resignation of BCB director M Nazmul Islam, and broader issues related to facilities and opportunities in women's cricket.
Speaking at the press conference, Cricket Organisers Association of Bangladesh (COAB) President Mohammad Mithun said, "We will go to the field on only one condition—that the BCB comes forward with a commitment and ensures that this person will no longer be part of the BCB within 48 hours. If he remains, the cricketers will not take responsibility for the suspension of play. This must be officially declared by the BCB."
The cricketers added that if the board agrees to their conditions by the afternoon, they are prepared to take the field in the evening.
