Bangladeshi umpires set for busy schedule in ICC tournaments

After returning from the Pakistan tour, the Bangladesh cricket team immediately began preparations for another series. The Test and T20 squad have been training at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium for the upcoming India tour. Following the India series, the team will return home briefly before heading to the West Indies in November. With back-to-back matches on the calendar, the team remains continuously engaged. Similarly, Bangladesh's ICC international panel umpires are also set for a packed schedule.

Over the next two months, four Bangladeshi umpires have been assigned duties in various ICC tournaments. These include three male and one female umpire from Bangladesh. Along with them, a Bangladeshi match referee will also have a busy schedule. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) shared this information in a press release on Wednesday.

Most of these tournaments are ICC events. Bangladeshi umpires will officiate matches in the qualifying rounds of both the ODI and T20 World Cups for several regions. Additionally, a Bangladeshi match referee will oversee a tri-nation series. These tournaments are scheduled to run until mid-November. The four Bangladeshi umpires are Morshed Ali Khan, Masudur Rahman Mukul, Tanvir Ahmed, and Sathira Jakir Jessy. The match referee will be Niamur Rashid Ratul.

Morshed Ali Khan recently returned from officiating matches in the Asia 'A' regional qualifiers of the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup, held in Malaysia. In October-November, he will officiate in the Emerging Asia Cup. Speaking to TBS, Morshed said, "I returned from umpiring in Malaysia yesterday. I've received another assignment. I will be officiating in the Emerging Asia Cup in Oman from October 26 to November 16, which has been confirmed today."

The League-2 phase of the ODI World Cup will take place in Canada from 14-27 September, where Masudur Rahman Mukul will serve as an umpire. Along with Canada, Oman and Nepal will participate in this tournament. Afterward, these three teams will compete in a tri-nation T20 series in Canada, where Niamur Rashid Ratul will take on the role of match referee.

Tanvir Ahmed will umpire in the 2026 T20 World Cup's East Asia Pacific Sub-Regional 'B' qualifiers, to be held in South Korea from 26 September to 6 October. Additionally, Sathira Jakir Jessy will officiate matches in the U-19 Women's T20 World Cup Qualifiers in the UAE from 4-14 November.
