Bangladesh team’s practice session in Kathmandu cancelled amid protests
According to Reuters, citing the country’s state media, nine people were killed in Kathmandu today in protest-related violence.

The previous day was spent mostly lying low for the Bangladesh footballers. They were scheduled to train at 3:00 pm today at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, but could not leave their hotel due to protests led by the "Gen Z" movement. With the situation deemed abnormal, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) decided to call off the training session.
In a statement, the BFF confirmed: "Ahead of the second FIFA international friendly against Nepal, the Bangladesh national team's training session was scheduled for 3:00 pm today at the Dasharath Stadium. However, due to unavoidable circumstances, the session has been cancelled."
According to Reuters, citing the country's state media, nine people were killed in Kathmandu today in protest-related violence. The Kathmandu Post reported that young demonstrators were protesting against corruption and the shutdown of social media platforms. Defying police resistance, they entered the parliamentary compound, after which police used tear gas, water cannons, rubber bullets and blank rounds to disperse the crowds.
In this climate, uncertainty now surrounds Bangladesh's second friendly against Nepal, scheduled for 5:45 pm tomorrow at the Dasharath Stadium. The first match between the two teams ended goalless.
