Why Bully 2 got sent to detention
For years, fans have begged Rockstar Games for a sequel to Bully, the cult classic about schoolyard mischief and teenage rebellion. Yet while Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption soared, Bully 2 never made it past the rumour mill. So, what happened?
According to Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser, it all came down to "bandwidth issues." In a recent interview, Houser explained that with such a small core creative team, the studio simply couldn't juggle every idea. In other words, they had to pick their battles—and Bully 2 didn't make the cut.
That might sound like a tidy corporate excuse, but leaks over the years suggest Houser's explanation holds weight. Debug files in GTA 5 hinted at Bully 2, and the infamous Rockstar hack confirmed the game existed in some playable form as late as 2009. Reportedly, hours of content were scrapped when Rockstar shifted its focus to Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3.
So, while the dream of Bully 2 still lingers in locker-room whispers, it seems the sequel was quietly expelled to make room for Rockstar's blockbuster priorities.
