The best part of Eid in our country is, the roads of Dhaka during Eid-holidays. Eid holidays in Dhaka are one of the best times for its dwellers. The roads are astonishingly empty and we do not wake up to the cacophony of car horns in the morning. Walking around the city feels grand!

You no longer have to wait for the red signal so that you can peacefully cross the road without having a reckless biker or two bump into you.

But as soon as offices and schools open, Dhaka becomes its old menacing self. You no longer can reach Dhanmondi from Uttara under 30 minutes and Uber no longer costs the same as rickshaw. Sigh!

But without being stuck in an existential crisis and asking yourself "why me? why do I have to be stuck in traffic for two hours?", enjoy the empty roads and take time to look into the liberty list of empty Dhaka we have come up with.

CNG drivers being nice and calling you 'mama/apamoni' is a once in a lifetime kind of experience that you only have during long holidays. Usually they just response with a grunt or a nod.

Any weather becomes romantic

Rain or shine, empty Dhaka feels just fine! Even if the weather exceeds 33 degree Celsius or the roads drown under fierce rain, you feel as good as you have never in your life. So the roads are muddy and there are flies all around you, it's still faaka Dhaka!

Bus rides become fun!

Usually buses take forever to reach your destination but when the streets are vacant, you must take a ride on them and books yourself a seat by the window. When you will reach your destination under 10 minutes, even the most polluted air will feel like magic!
