RNAR: A YouTuber who will make you fall in love with movies

Rasheduzzaman Rakib opened his first movie-based YouTube channel RNAR in 2016. The channel had more than 50 thousand subscribers. But suddenly it was hacked. Rakib was so frustrated that he could not visit YouTube for a long time. But it was movies that have brought him back again to the video sharing site.

He was inspired to open another channel with the same name in 2017 after watching movies like The Skin I Live In, No Mercy. The number of subscribers of this channel has surpassed one million a few days ago.

He reviews movies on his channel. But his reviews contain some extra elements which viewers find interesting. He ironically reveals the inconsistencies of Bangla movies. His exceptional tone and funny presentation catches the viewers' attention easily. He also includes detailed information concerning the movies that he reviews.

Apart from raw entertainment, he seriously reviews movies which contain solid stories and polished makings and shows the hard work done by the actors-actresses. If the story or songs of any movie is plagiarised, he also mentions them. That's why Bengali movie lovers visit Rakib's channel regularly.

The passion for being a youtuber first arose in Rakib's mind in 2014. He said, "One day I came across a video of Pewdiepie. Then I watched almost all his videos. I thought- why am I not making such videos? I decided to pick cinema as the subject of my videos."

However, as a person Rakib is very shy. For this reason, in the beginning, the challenge was to overcome the nervousness of talking on the microphone. Editing was also a challenge. He has overcome the challenges gradually. Now he enjoys knowing and learning new things every day.In the beginning, he didn't have the necessary equipment to make videos. But later he bought them gradually. In this regard, he was supported by his close people.

"Any task becomes easier when people close to us have the courage. We got spirited by them," he said.

What is the reason for choosing cinema as the topic of his YouTube videos? Especially Bengali films?

Rakib said, "I have loved movies since childhood. I used to spend time watching movies. When I thought about my own YouTube channel, movies came into my mind immediately. And in that time, there was not much discussion about the decline or inconsistencies of Bengali films. Then I thought I should talk about these issues. Not just me, but many more people should discuss and criticise these. Things should be brought to the fore. Only then the situation will change."

Rakib said he posts one video a week. The video talks about any newly released movie, web series.

"I make videos maintaining a routine. There is a plan to make a video every week. Larger videos take time. However, I divide the whole work into different parts. Then we proceed accordingly till the day of video upload. Everything is possible only if we work according to the routine," said Rakib.

He said, "There is nothing in my videos that will create a bad situation or those involved in the movie will feel bad. In the video, the inconsistencies of the movie are highlighted through entertainment. This is a very normal thing. You will see many such things in foreign countries."

Rakib, a graduate and post-graduate in Physics from Jagannath University, has chosen this new profession by himself. YouTube and movies are his meditations. Apart from his channel, he also loves cricket. In private life he is married and has a video about marriage on his channel.

If anyone wants to become a YouTuber, what qualities should he have? Is it possible to take it as a profession?

He answered, "You have to be confident in the beginning. Nothing happens on YouTube overnight. It takes a lot of patience. If you stick to YouTube, success will come. And it is possible to take it as a profession. There is going to be something huge regarding YouTube in this country."
