Punisher returns: Jon Bernthal faces off against Spider-Man in ‘Brand New Day’ teaser clip
The clip shows him in action, driving his iconic “Battle Van” and directly targeting Spider-Man, maybe highlighting the threat he poses to the web-slinger? Bernthal has officially returned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as The Punisher, following his appearance in “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 1
Marvel and Sony today (18 March) gave fans a first look at Jon Bernthal's Punisher in the ninth teaser clip of the highly anticipated "Spider-Man: Brand New Day".
The clip shows him in action, driving his iconic "Battle Van" and directly targeting Spider-Man, maybe highlighting the threat he poses to the web-slinger? Bernthal has officially returned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as The Punisher, following his appearance in "Daredevil: Born Again" Season 1.
While Frank Castle is not expected in the show's second batch of episodes, he takes centre stage this summer in Tom Holland starrer "Spider-Man: Brand New Day".
Inspired by last year's "Avengers: Doomsday" marketing, Marvel and Sony are releasing the latest Spider-Man movie trailer in staggered clips to create a multi-day event.
These teasers gradually reveal the parts of the story while giving glimpses of supporting characters, with Bernthal's Punisher making a standout impression.
The Punisher has long served as a dark mirror to heroes like Daredevil and Captain America, and this portrayal continues that tradition.
The question now is why Frank Castle is targeting Spider-Man.
While he could be holding the wall-crawler responsible for Mysterio's death in "Spider-Man: Far From Home", there may be a more immediate reason driving him to confront Holland's Peter Parker.
There are also chances that Frank did not mean the hero any real harm.
Frank is not rocking a beard, seen in the first season of "Daredevil: Born Again", in this sneak peek, but the anti-hero can be seen sporting his classic logo on his chest armour.
Previously, set photos had shown that Spidey was perched on the front of the Battle Van while The Punisher aimed a gun at him.
"Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" helmer Destin Daniel Cretton is directing "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" from a script by returning franchise writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
Tom Holland plays Spider-Man/Peter Parker in a cast that also includes Bernthal (The Punisher), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Zendaya (MJ), Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds), Sadie Sink, Michael Mando (The Scorpion), Tramell Tillman, Marvin Jones III (Tombstone), and Liza Colón-Zayas. Florence Pugh is also expected to reprise her Thunderbolts* role as Yelena Belova.
