 The perks of staying indoors

The shutdown has been a life changing event for many of us, and we never imagined in our wildest dreams that a tiny microbe would put the whole world in danger.

People are complaining of being anxious, worried and just straight up bored from staying inside their homes for days. However, if you think of it, staying indoors is actually not that bad because:

You can wear the same, crumpled t-shirt for days. Pressed clothes are overrated.

You no longer have to rush out of your home at 7am to dodge traffic and reach somewhere by 9am. Holler at the daily passengers of the Uttara-Motijheel route!

You can eat you breakfast at 4pm and lunch at 10am, because who is keeping track of the time? Every day is shutdown day.

You can do everything in bed. From attending meetings to writing reports to having serious conversations over phone, all can be done while lying on your back. Forget that back pain for a while.

You no longer get moved by trash celebrity gossip because nothing beats a pandemic and watching these multi-millionaires complain about being stuck in their huge mansions is plain annoying.

You do not have to waste your money on 'sehri nights' or 'irresistible Iftar' restaurant deals which never offer enough food. One date, one piece of bland chicken and two, big teaspoon full of rice at BDT999++ only!

-You finally get to see people with hygiene issues take showers and regularly wash their hands. Oh the joy!

You have the TV all to yourself because none of your family members are watching daily soaps (the channels ran out of new episodes). This should feel victorious.

-You do not have to bargain with rickshaw and CNG mamas. You say 70 taka, he says 100 taka, and then you offer 80 and he offers 90, and it goes on. These verbal offer and accept conversations often give us headaches.

If you are a woman, high chances that you have not been catcalled since March. How peaceful has that been? (virtual high-five at the ladies!)

-You finally learn something good or useful, like making a cup of good tea or frying up the perfect omelet. You also learn how everything can be cooked from scratch; the mighty jilapi is now a household snack!

You learn the value of a good adda or a good cappuccino. What we would not give for a hangout at our favourite café with our favourite people right now!

So, we should stay home, stop nagging about the shutdown, and fry up some shapeless jilapis for some extra likes!
